Description

These ultra thick bakery-style chocolate chip cookies feature crispy edges and gooey centers, packed with rich chocolate for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or sea salt)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chocolate chips (mix of semisweet and dark)
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
  • Optional: Extra chocolate chips and flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, folding until just combined.
  4. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, place dough on baking sheets, spacing well apart. Optionally top with extra chocolate chips and flaky sea salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough is key for thick, gooey centers. Use a quality mix of chocolate for enhanced flavor.
