Description

Deliciously soft and chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that evoke warmth and nostalgia. Perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt, then gradually stir this into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Fold in the old-fashioned oats and chocolate chips until evenly incorporated.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers are soft.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature butter and avoid overbaking for a chewy center.
