Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- Powdered sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the mixture, and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes for easier handling.
- Roll the dough into balls and then roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat.
- Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies have crinkled and the edges are set.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
