Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl and cool slightly.
  3. Whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Sift together the flour and baking soda in a separate bowl, then fold into the wet mixture to just combine.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet, spaced about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are golden and centers are soft.

Notes

For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them and let them cool on the tray.
