A creamy and cheesy layered potato dish that’s a comforting delight, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying yourself.
Ingredients
- 4 large Yukon Gold potatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar and Gruyere recommended)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (th. 6).
- Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds (about 2-3 mm thick).
- Rinse the potato slices under cold water, then dry them with a clean towel.
- Rub a gratin dish with cut garlic cloves.
- Layer the potato slices in the dish, adding cream, cheese, salt, and pepper between layers.
- Top with grated cheese and dot with butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Notes
Let the gratin rest for about 10 minutes after baking to allow it to set up.
