Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for topping, optional)
  • Additional cinnamon (for topping, optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  6. Toss chopped apples with cinnamon and sugar, then fold them into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon if desired.
  9. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store the loaf covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container for up to 5–7 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
