Description
Delightful and guilt-free churro bites made healthier with whole wheat flour and unsweetened applesauce, cooked in an air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
- Cooking spray
- Cinnamon sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and melted coconut oil.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Form small dough balls and lightly spray them with cooking spray.
- Place the dough balls in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for about 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the air fryer and roll in cinnamon sugar while warm.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
To store, place in an airtight container. They can last at room temperature for 1-2 days, in the fridge for up to a week, or be frozen for longer. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave before serving.
