Description

Deliciously chewy oatmeal cookies that evoke nostalgia and warmth, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  6. If desired, fold in raisins or chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, use softened butter and avoid overmixing the dough.
