Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
- If desired, fold in raisins or chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, use softened butter and avoid overmixing the dough.
