Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until soft.
- Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Add kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 30-40 minutes.
- Serve hot, ideally with cornbread or rice.
Notes
For a spicier chili, add jalapeños or hot sauce during cooking. Let the chili sit for a few hours or overnight for improved flavors.
