A comforting and hearty chili perfect for any meal or gathering, made with ground beef and pantry staples.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine.
- Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Serve hot with optional toppings.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
