Description

A comforting and hearty chili perfect for any meal or gathering, made with ground beef and pantry staples.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine.
  5. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.
  6. Cover and cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  7. Serve hot with optional toppings.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
