Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and add the vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden around the edges.
  8. Cool on wire racks and enjoy!

Notes

For a chewier cookie, chill the dough before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week.
