Description

Timeless chocolate chip cookies that are warm, gooey, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream the butter (and shortening, if using) with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking for richer flavor. Optionally, add nuts or other mix-ins.
