Description
Timeless chocolate chip cookies that are warm, gooey, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream the butter (and shortening, if using) with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking for richer flavor. Optionally, add nuts or other mix-ins.
