Ingredients
- 115 grams (1 stick or 1/2 cup) unsalted butter
- 90 grams (1/2 cup) brown sugar
- 50 grams (1/4 cup) caster sugar or granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 210 grams (1 and 1/2 cups) plain flour or all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 160 grams (1 cup) chocolate chips, plus extra for decorating
- Sea salt flakes, for decorating
Instructions
- Melt the Butter: Place the butter in a heatproof bowl and microwave it until just melted.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: Stir in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until you have a smooth mixture.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt, mixing until a soft cookie dough forms.
- Incorporate Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until they are thoroughly combined.
- Chill the Dough: Chill the cookie dough in the fridge for at least an hour or speed up by putting it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) for standard baking or 160°C (320°F) for fan-forced. Line two baking trays with baking or parchment paper.
- Shape the Cookies: Roll out balls of cookie dough, around 1.5 tablespoons each, and place them on the prepared trays.
- Bake: Bake the cookies for 10-11 minutes until they are lightly golden. Sprinkle with sea salt and extra chocolate chips while warm.
