Description

Classic chocolate chip cookies that bring back fond memories with each bite. Gooey, crunchy, and irresistibly aromatic.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Dissolve baking soda in hot water, then add it to the batter with salt.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms, then fold in chocolate chips and walnuts if using.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking pans, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for approximately 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  8. Let cool before enjoying the warm cookies.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Use parchment paper for easier removal from baking pans.
