Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs, and beat until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown around the edges but soft in the center.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can help enhance flavor and maintain shape.
