Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for brownie batter)

- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (for cookie dough)

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cookie dough)
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (for cookie dough)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (for cookie dough)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (for cookie dough)
- 1 cup chocolate chips (for cookie dough)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter for the brownie batter. Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until combined.
- Sift in 1/3 cup of cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar for the cookie dough.
- Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until fluffy.
- Gradually mix in 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt until a soft cookie dough forms.
- Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared dish. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on top of the brownie batter and gently press them in.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are set and center remains slightly gooey.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
For the best flavor, use room temperature ingredients. Chilling the cookie dough before layering can enhance its flavor.
