Description

A warm and comforting chili recipe that’s easy to make in a crockpot, perfect for feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef to the crockpot.
  3. Add the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chopped onion, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and broth to the crockpot.
  4. Stir all the ingredients until well mixed.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 360 minutes (6 hours) or on high for 240 minutes (4 hours).
  6. Adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.

Notes

For a spicier chili, add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper. Let the chili sit for a while after cooking for improved flavor.
