These award-winning soft chocolate chip cookies feature a warm, gooey center surrounded by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth cookie.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Add vanilla extract and eggs, mixing one at a time until smooth.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients using low speed until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional nuts using a spatula.
- Scoop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are golden and center remains soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
To keep cookies soft, store in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze.
