Description

These award-winning soft chocolate chip cookies feature a warm, gooey center surrounded by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth cookie.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  4. Add vanilla extract and eggs, mixing one at a time until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients using low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional nuts using a spatula.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are golden and center remains soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

To keep cookies soft, store in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze.
